Assistive Hearing Devices Are Available at Every Worship Service The sound system includes five assistive hearing devices, which are available for your use. These are wireless receivers with a single earpiece. They are easy to use and very unobtrusive – your fellow congregants are unlikely to notice that you're using one. If you're interested in giving one of our assistive hearing devices a try, just ask an usher for one when you enter the sanctuary. Hearing aids should be removed before using the church's assistive device. Please remember to return the earpiece and the receiver to an usher at the end of worship, so that we can clean it and have it ready the next time you or someone else wants to use it. Thanks!
We, the members of Central Lutheran Church, affirm that Christ has made us one body with many members, all sharing in God's wondrous grace and unconditional love. We celebrate
both the human variation and inclusive unity of God's family. Following Jesus' example, we embrace all of God's people, regardless of ethnicity, physical and mental abilities, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or economic circumstance. With welcoming hearts,
we invite you to join us in worship, fellowship, and ministry.

All are welcome. November GEMS All Church Thanksgiving Dinner On Thursday, November 19th, at noon, you are invited to the 5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Central Lutheran in the parish hall. This is a potluck with the turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, and drinks furnished. All are invited to this dinner whether GEMS members or not. Please bring your favorite Thanksgiving dish to share with everyone. You need to call the church, 345-0395, by Monday, November 16th to let us know you are coming so we will know how much turkey to prepare.
Olive Oil from the Holy Land -- The 2009 crop of olives is now being harvested from the 800 olive trees on the slopes of the Mount of Olives on the property of the Lutheran World Federation’s Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem. As an on-going mission of Central Lutheran Church Women we will be taking orders for bottled olive oil in the narthex this month to support the Hospital in its mission of healing, peace, and justice in the Holy Land. In addition we will be selling bars of olive oil soap in “designer” fabric bags as well as small ceramic tableware created by Palestinian artisans. Stop by and do your Christmas shopping early!
FISH Sunday is Coming -- What a great opportunity we have as Christians to reach out to those in our community who are struggling. Through FISH we can provide meals by giving canned and non-perishable food items for much needed meals and know that we are helping someone who truly needs it. FISH food baskets are available by calling the FISH Helpline and talking to a volunteer. Each person goes through a screening process and is helped to find support in the community. In a sense, FISH is a rescue team for those caught in a crisis situation. Let's fill up the FISH food box located in the narthex! If you have questions about FISH please call Norma Edman.
Quilt Packets are back in the narthex! The quilters continue to need help from anyone that will sew quilt tops. Each packet contains squares to construct a top. There are directions on the construction of each top. Each top can be returned to the Quilters box in the hall across from the library. If you have questions please contact Ellen Rasmussen or talk to any of the quilters.
The Central Lutheran Foundation will meet on Monday, November 16 at 9 a.m. at the church.
The Central Lutheran Foundation will meet on Thursday, December 3 at 1 p.m., Note: this is a change of date and time from our usual meeting time.
"For All of Central's Veterans......Thank You! Some of our Sunday School children have made some special flag cards for you. Please pick one up from the box in the narthex."

WORSHIP SCHEDULE CHANGE for November 29 One Service only at 8:15 a.m. Handel Messiah Performances (2½-3 hours in length): Saturday, November 28 at 6 PM Sunday, November 29 at 10 AM (no 10:45 service that day) A Benefit for Food for Lane County Messiah update
We had scheduled Messiah performances for the only weekend between mid November and Christmas (Thanksgiving Weekend) when the orchestral musicians were not fully booked for the Eugene Concert Choir, the Symphony or the Ballet. Unfortunately, for the first time ever, the Symphony called rehearsals on Sunday afternoon and evening of Thanksgiving weekend, so we lost a goodly number of players for Messiah. (Eugene has some fantastic orchestral players, but not enough for two events at the same time.) Initially, we cancelled the Sunday performance. But with the gracious consent of staff, this scheduling change was made possible so we could offer the second performance of Messiah on Sunday morning. Please help us pass the word around.
